As summer is all too rapidly coming to an end we wanted to send greetings and best wishes from the Finance and Accounting Departments.
The second quarter of 2017 has been very busy and active in the Finance and Accounting Departments working through the acquisition of eight Virginia Corporate stores acquired at the end of May and the two North Carolina stores that we finally closed on in July. We have also been extremely busy with the conversions of the TACO systems over to e*Restaurant, and anticipate 100% completion of this project by the end of October. In addition to the e*Restaurant conversions, Accounting is working on major improvements and upgrades to our Payroll processing and reporting system that will enhance efficiencies and include an employee portal for online access of pay and benefit information.
Through Q2, BurgerBusters had total sales growth of 16% year to date at $65 million, up from $56 million the previous year. Same store sales for BBI has increased 7% and this is outpacing both the national same store sales for Taco Bell and the QSR market.
Highlights so far this year include:
- Purchased 8 stores in the Newport News / Fredericksburg areas.
- Purchased 2 stores in North Carolina.
- Opened 5 new Taco Bell stores and 2 Steak ‘n Shake stores so far in 2017.
With all of this new activity, the Accounting Department has welcomed another new addition, Lanisha McLendon. Lanisha is a CPA candidate currently working on progressing through the rigorous CPA exam and she comes to us most recently from Schenker Inc. She has an MBA from Liberty University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Clark Atlanta University.
As BurgerBusters continues to grow and expand, it is important for the Finance and Accounting Departments to not only work hard to foster this growth, but also look to upgrade talent as needs arise. As such, I am excited to work with the new personnel that we have added to the Account-ing Department and the skill and expertise they bring to BurgerBusters.
