As we reach the latter half of 2017, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone across the company for all they have done so far this year. While many companies are facing economic uncertainty, fortu-nately, BurgerBusters continues to be an industry leader in growth. We are on a record sales pace and that is due in large part to all your efforts.
BurgerBusters is continuing its record-setting development as well. Since the latest newsletter in June, BurgerBusters has developed and opened a new restaurant in Arch-dale, NC (Unit No. 32899) and completed the remodel of three existing restaurants (Unit No. 403 Greensboro, NC; Unit No. 3727 Newport News, VA; and Unit No. 15627 Greensboro, NC). At pre-sent, BurgerBusters has another four restaurants under construction (Newport News, VA; New Kent, VA; Chesapeake, VA; and Advance, NC) set to open their doors soon. As we look to close out 2017, we are slated to break ground on another three new Taco Bell restaurants, with another three remodels of existing restaurants. On the Steaks of Virginia side of our business, we are currently scheduled to break ground later on this year in Stafford, VA.
In addition to all the great develop-ment BurgerBusters is undertaking this year, I am happy to announce the acquisition of ten new Taco Bell restaurants. Eight units were purchased from Taco Bell Corp. (Unit No. 33515 Newport News, VA; Unit No. 33516 Fredericks-burg, VA; Unit No. 33517 New-port News, VA; Unit No. 33518 Hampton, VA; Unit No. 33519 Hampton, VA; Unit No. 33520 Newport News, VA; Unit No. 33521 Newport News, VA; and Unit No. 33522 Fredericksburg, VA) and two were purchased from another Taco Bell franchisee (Unit No. 33642 Elizabeth City, NC and Unit No. 34016 Nags Head, NC). These new stores will add tremen-dous value to our system, while not stretching the organization operationally, as these locations are all within areas that Burger-Busters currently operates other locations.
All these new locations within the organization are leading to new opportunities. Due to all this growth, BurgerBusters has added new positions at various levels, ranging from crew member to in-store manager to district manager. In fact, this year alone, Burger-Busters has added approximately 500 jobs to the company. We have become the 8th largest franchisee out of about 375 in the Taco Bell system. As we continue our rapid expansion, at a faster pace than any other Taco Bell franchisee, even more jobs and opportunities will become available. Notwithstanding all of the successful and exciting development we have going on we cannot lose sight of the ongo-ing challenges and successes we can have managing labor and food costs especially with com-modities cost spiking in the re-cent months.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the continued perseverance of the Burger-Busters Senior Team, Joe Man-gano, Greg Rowland, and Kirk Jester. They help make this company the well-oiled machine that it is, operating at a highly-efficient level that allows us to push forward with our expansion plans. I would also like to thank Don Baruch and the rest of the Development Department for all the work that they have put into keeping these myriad number of projects moving forward. As we continue our rapid expansion more jobs and opportunities will become available.
BurgerBusters is truly a team effort. I want to thank you all again for the part you play in this company’s success. Let’s carry this upward momentum forwards and finish out the year strong.
“While many companies are facing economic uncertainty, fortunately, BurgerBusters continues to be an industry leader in growth.”
